Dairy Of A Wimpy Kid

We explore a dorky underdog Greg Heffley and his best friend Rowley as they navigate the tough life of a middle school child (12 years old). A relatable story for all children though I would recommend the novel more to 9 year-olds in order for them to resonate with the boys' daily life. It is a fun relaxing read although our main character Greg can be seen as highly manipulative towards his friend. 

It is also a shorter book and so great for bedtime reading as you can quickly get through this fast paced book and leads into quality family time due to the movies that have been created based off of the books. 

And whilst they may surround controversy with schools and some parents it is important to understand that a child's reading experience should be both fun and educational and so it is okay to have a mixture of different levels of reading in order to keep your child thoroughly engaged and to nurture their love of reading as they grow.
